Top Smartphones for 2018 Q3
The most popular smartphone in the world for this quarter goes to the Apple iPhone 7, ending the quarter with 5.7% of all smartphone usage globally. Apple is dominating the top five positions across the largest markets of Asia, North America, and Europe. In fact, outside of the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime and the Samsung Galaxy S8, Apple holds all the other top 5 positions across these three continents. Apple 2017 releases (iPhone 8, iPhone 8Plus, and iPhone X) are performing we, with the iPhone X holding the top position in Asia.

Top Tablets for 2018 Q3
Like smartphones, Apple dominates the top five position for tablets. The Apple iPad Air 2 is the most popular tablet in the world.
Top Smartphone Operating System (OS)
Globally, Android holds 66% of the smartphone OS usage. However, in North America, iOS holds a slight lead with 51% of the usage. Android 7.0 is the top Android version with 16.3%. iOS 11.4 is the most popular iOS version with 23.2%, although many users started to upgrade to iOS 12 near the end of 2018 Q3.
Most Popular Smartphone Size
Asia continues to prefer larger smartphones. 47% of Asian usage comes from smartphones with diagonal screen size of 5.5” to 6”. North America is close behind with 42% of smartphones in that same 5.5” to 6” segment. Europe tends towards slightly smaller smartphones, with the most popular usage segment of diagonal size of 5” to 5.5” holding 39%.
