ScientiaMobile, Inc., a US company offering the popular Open-Source WURFL framework commercially, has today announced the availability of its WURFL Cloud offering. Companies that need to tailor their content to mobile devices, but do not wish to commit to large upfront investments for a DDR, can now rely on a Cloud-based solution.
The Cloud supports a variety of popular programming platforms, such as: Java, PHP and .NET. Support for Ruby and other scripting languages is committed for Q2 2012.
The WURFL Cloud solution is made available in 4 different versions: free, basic, standard and premium, addressing a variety of business needs and use cases. The WURFL SaaS options span from a free-of-charge offer, mainly aimed at hobbyists and micro-companies, to the premium offer, directed at large enterprises that need to detect millions of mobile devices every month.
“We’ve always known there was a market for a cloud-based device detection service, so in 2011 we began developing the WURFL Cloud. From the beginning, it has been designed as an enterprise-class service, featuring high performance, geographic redundancy and great price points. Our beta testing started in August 2011, and we have been fine-tuning the service ever since. WURFL Cloud is now open for business, and we’re excited to see it become an integral component in the mobile strategies of our customers.” – Steve Kamerman, ScientiaMobile COO.
“ScientiaMobile has always paid particular attention to the community of developers” – said Luca Passani, ScientiaMobile’s CTO. “The fact that we support a free option for certain classes of users is the proof of this. At the same time, our expertize in the enterprise world has enabled us to provide a solution that ‘cuts it’ for large companies too”.
Stefano Tosolini, CEO at Altea Software Srl, an adopter of the WURFL Cloud since its beta-testing period, stated: “We have used the ScientiaMobile WURFL Cloud for two months and we are very satisfied: it is fast, precise, reliable and it works as advertised!”
Krishna Guda, ScientiaMobile CEO, stated: “Installing and managing a DDR has always requested a non-negligible amount of expertise and resources. The introduction of the WURFL Cloud eliminates many of the barriers that companies, big and small, had to overcome in order to deploy their optimized mobile services. I am very proud of my team for this accomplishment.”
