ScientiaMobile today releases a new product, WURFL InSight, that addresses the need for device detection across the fast-growing field of analytics. With this data service, analysts can use WURFL tables to accurately identify mobile devices visiting their web sites or services. They can then extract those devices’ properties (features, and capabilities) from the weekly-updated WURFL tables and merge them with their own data marts. The WURFL InSight data service provides easy-to-install tables that will work off-the-shelf with analytics tools, while requiring limited support from the eternally-busy IT staff.
Gartner group estimated that analytics was a $13.1 billion market in 2012, growing at 6.8% annually. “We saw that customers were increasingly looking to our WURFL API-based products to provide device detection for post-processing analytics. But many customers were analysts in business groups, not hard-core developers who can manage an API integration. So we decided to develop a table-based service that analysts, who are proficient with SQL-based and NoSQL-type tools, can easily use. Now they can easily join accurate device information with their web traffic logs,” said Krishna Guda, CEO of ScientiaMobile.
“We were pleased with how quickly we could install WURFL InSight and start identifying a high-percentage of our mobile web traffic. We now have the business intelligence to make a host of strategic decisions based on this device information,” said the business analyst from a major mobile operator.
