The Apple iPhone X Becomes the Most Used Smartphone in Asia
RESTON, Va., Oct. 26, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE)—In ScientiaMobile’s newly published Mobile Overview Report (MOVR) for third quarter 2018, the device detection firm found that the Apple iPhone 7 continues to reign as the world’s most popular smartphone based on browsing usage of 5.70 percent. It is also the most popular smartphone in all of North America, Europe, and Oceania. Of the populated continents not mentioned, the Apple iPhone 7 was in the top three of those markets. For South America, the Apple iPhone 7 was the third most popular smartphone with three percent usage. For Africa, the Apple iPhone 7 was the second most popular smartphone with three percent usage.

- Asia: Apple iPhone X, six percent usage
- North America: Apple iPhone 7, eight percent usage
- Europe: Apple iPhone 7, seven percent usage
- South America: Samsung Galaxy J2 Prime, four percent usage
- Africa: Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime+, four percent usage
- Oceania: Apple iPhone 7, nine percent usage

Apple iPhone X Popularity in Asia
ScientiaMobile’s report also outlines the growing popularity of the Apple iPhone X in Asia with six percent usage in the continent by the end of September 2018. More specifically, the Apple iPhone X is South Korea’s most popular smartphone with 13.31 percent of usage compared to only 7.67 percent in the United States.
Apple iPhone XS and Apple iPhone XS Max Launch Performance
ScientiaMobile’s MOVR also outlines the performance of the newly launched Apple iPhone XS and Apple iPhone XS Max. Apple shipped these smartphones on September 21, 2018, and they have already reached similar levels of popularity as the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 (0.23 percent usage), which shipped almost a month before the Apple iPhones (August 24, 2018). The Apple iPhone XS reached 0.17 percent global share and the Apple iPhone XS Max has reached 0.22 percent global share by the end of September 2018.
