Get Improved Device Detection, New Capabilities, Webviews from Apps, and Improved Browser Identification
Today, ScientiaMobile has released version 1.6 of its WURFL API. This new version improves matching logic and significantly boosts the accuracy and performance of WURFL. Likewise, the new capabilities of “is_phone” and “is_app_webview” will help developers design code that categorizes and targets devices capable of making phone calls or web sessions launched by an app.
Other major improvements found in version 1.6 include:
- Improved detection of Android 5.1 OS
- Improved detection of Internet Explorer Edge browsers
- Detections of webviews from Amazon Fire OS
- Identification of touch-enabled devices running Internet Explorer
- Improved identification and capabilities for Smart TVs
“We continue to evolve the WURFL API to keep on top of the ever-changing device landscape. We are fine-tuning performance and adding capabilities to help developers better manage these devices,” said Luca Passani, CTO of ScientiaMobile.
Version 1.6 is available across all WURFL products. WURFL OnSite and WURFL AGPL users can download here. WURFL Cloud, WURFL.js Business Edition, and WURFL InSight customers will automatically benefit from version 1.6 – no downloads necessary. WURFL InFuze customers can log in and download from their customer vault.
