Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic Sales/Support Engineer who likes working in a casual, small team environment. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who loves working with new and emerging technologies to solve interesting problems, and who is not afraid to continuously improve our environment with new best practices.

In this role, you will be the front-line catalyst who creates possibilities, solves problems, and establishes working relationships with our customers. You will discover and analyze our customers’ business and technical needs, and collaborate with the Sales and Engineering teams to help them invest wisely in the best solution. You will need to have excellent communication and people skills, as you will be a crucial part of the first in-depth experience our customers have with ScientiaMobile. We will also need you to have a balance of technical expertise, a passion for open source, and a thorough understanding of business processes.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Support the Sales team with recommendations for development and implementation of complex products and solutions to achieve sales objectives
  • Meet deployment and service objectives, while sustaining good relationships with current and prospective customers
  • Identify integration points for products and help customers realize their value
  • Deliver compelling recommendations and quality solutions that result in the closing of new sales
  • Use your skills as a technical solutions expert and your understanding of industry best practices to deliver timely results to customers that exceed their expectations
  • Share knowledge and findings to allow team members to learn from your successes and mistakes
  • Serve as a engineering liaison to the sales team
  • Manage customer points-of-contact and trial accounts
  • Have experience supporting the sales process and interacting with technical customers


  • 3+ years of experience as a sales engineer, IT architect, or an equivalent role with enterprise accounts
  • Ability to interpret customers’ business and technical needs
  • A strong interest in solving technical challenges via logical deduction
  • Understanding of complex enterprise solutions and architectures
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and documentation skills
  • Experience developing relationships at engineering, commercial, and executive levels throughout large enterprise IT organizations
  • Technical understanding with three of the following:
    • GNU/Linux
    • NGINX, Varnish
    • Splunk
    • ETL tools
    • Mobile device detection
    • Web optimization
    • Experience with programming languages like Java, .Net, PHP, Python, and shell scripting
